SSG Brooke McKenzie
I started my military career in 2010. I attended basic training at Fort Sill, Airborne school at Fort Benning and AIT at Fort Eustis to become a 15J (Armamemt, Avionics and Electrical technician) on the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior, a small attack and recon helicopter in the Army’s arsenal. I was subsequently stationed in Savannah, GA in 2011. After one deployment with 3ID in 2012-13 the Army made the choice to retire the Kiowa. I made the career decision to switch airframes and attended a second AIT in 2015 to become a 15T (UH-60M Blackhawk maintainer).
After school I was stationed in Hawaii in 2016 where I became a flight crewmember in 2017 and spent 3 years crewing and maintaining 25ID’s Blackhawks. After many TDYs with 2-25 CAB to several Asian Pacific countries I decided to hang up my active duty hat at 9 years of service. In 2019 I enlisted in the Hawaii National Guard where since July 2020 I have been an active guard reserve member flying for 3-126 MEDEVAC and working as their full time logistics NCO.
